Baby Shower - 28 weeks!

My lovely friend Naomi came down from Vancouver BC last weekend for a visit and my baby shower. We met 15 years ago while both attending college in London and have been quite close ever since. Luck would have it, she moved back to Van around 6 months before I moved back home to Seattle after both living our crazy London lives there for 7 years. Funnily, she got married one year to the day before I did last year and now we are both due to deliver our babies almost the same day. It's been so fun having a maternity buddy to email with almost daily about this new adventure. I also email with my good friend Olga in the midwest who is due around a month before I am, so she can give me a heads up on what to expect!

Oh my gosh! I made these hilarious t-shirts with 'peanut' on Naomi's bump (that is what she calls her baby) and 'bean' for mine! Too funny.

The baby shower on Sunday was gorgeous! and so much fun! My little bean was totally spoiled and so was her mama! My mother out did herself with the baby diaper cake and the tier of baby cupcakes! Such a fun day!

26 weeks!

Well, I'm just over 6 months pregnant now and feeling pretty good. The belly is getting pretty heavy and the swollen ankles are a bit out of control! We are just back from a weeks holiday in Ucluelet, BC on Vancouver Island. Hubby went out fishing every day with family friends and I swam in the hotel pool and read an amazing book, The Road. I did manage to do a little shopping around the sweet town and found a couple of boutiques that I loved.

Here is a picture of me now 6 months and two weeks along in my new dress by BB Dakota picked up at the cute boutique called Tula in Ucluelet. I'm in love with this dress and plan on carrying this brand in my shop starting this fall :)

The other boutique I found is called Ukee Baby and is very new to the town, I got these super cute little leather shoes and matching argyle baby legs for my [soon to be] bean! I know that I could probably find these in a baby boutique in Seattle, but it's so fun to get something when on holiday.

I did take a huge bag of yarn with plans on crocheting a whole wardrobe of baby things for the beam while gazing out at the marina, but somehow never found the time. I did finish my second baby cardigan before we left. I sort of used the pattern from the first one that I made, but changed it to look more like a little kimono. I'm working on a matching bunny doll at the moment, pictures coming soon.

Here are a couple of me at 24 weeks, the blue peasant top is my first actual maternity item and I got it at Target for around $20, the long lilac dress was on sale at the Gap for $29! Jacket is from my Frock Shop last fall. I love this jacket! I'm glad to be able to still wear it even though the sleeves are a bit tight!

New Dress for Preggers to wear to a wedding...

Gp568975-00vliv01 Last week I wrote about the Victoria Secret Dress that I was planning to wear to a wedding this weekend that hubby is photographing. Well, I received the dress and although I love it and wore it for the 4th, it's just not suitable for a wedding. On Sunday after an afternoon of hunting I found this dress at the Gap. It fits the pregnant belly and now that I have boobs I can hold up the strapless! One thing I have noticed about buying Gap product in the store and comparing it to the website is the lengths. This dress on me comes mid calf and I'm 5'8", on the website model it's above her knees. I've noticed this on other product, their models must be Very tall! I'm hoping my ankles will behave themselves and not get too swollen!

Here I am wearing my lovely dress! You can't see the baby bump so well in this photo, but when I turn sideways it was like a beach ball in my dress :)

Weekend Fun...

For the 4th of July hubby and I were invited to go out on Lake Union in our friend's boat to watch the fireworks! I have always seen all of the boats on the lake and wanted to be one of the boat people watching the fireworks from right below. I got very seasick as we made our way to the Ballard Locks, but was fine by the time we were at the lake. We rafted up with 4 other friend's boats to make a big floating party. I made some very patriotic cupcakes in the shape of a flag, but my country only has 4 states to fit into my cupcake carrying case!

I wore the dress that I had ordered from Victoria's Secret for the wedding we are going to next weekend (see early entry). I love the dress, but it's a bit too Laura Ashley curtains to wear to a wedding. It was pretty crazy to be almost 6 months pregnant, in a floor length sundress, climbing from boat to boat, an amazing day though!

July 40007 July 40009  July 40017 July 40018     Weekend before was my lovely friend's Kris & Joel's Jamaican engagement party! Hubby & I loaded up the car with lots of chairs, party decorations & a kiddie pool!

He & I got to the party early to help set up the decorations while Kris & Joel worked on the food. It turned out to be the hotest day of our summer so far, so here I am very pregnant in 90 degree heat hanging up flowers and fish! I had made chocolate covered Jamaican flag cakes on sticks (with big fake engagement ring toppers!) using the same recipe from Bakerella that I had used on a previous baby shower cake ball project. They were a bit more tricky to cover with chocolate, but hubby came up with the brilliant idea of cooling them top down on wax paper to create the flat tops, so easy to make the Jamaican flags with icing.

It ended up being a super hot & fun day!

Preggers goes to a wedding...

My hubby is photographing a semi casual wedding at Discovery Park in a couple of weeks and I wanted to get a new maxi dress for the occasion. Something not to formal, not too casual and not as loud as my other maxi dresses. I have been inspired by the great Gerard Derel dresses that Angelina Jolie has been wearing as maternity dresses in a couple of different fabrics:

I'm going with this Victoria Secret maxi dress that is on sale for $75 and a sparkle cardigan from my own shop. I need to find some cute pewter colored shoes now! Will post pictures of me in my outfit soon.

21 weeks!

I'm just over halfway through my pregnancy and getting rounder by the day! I feel great pretty much everyday with the exception of my water balloon feet and ankles. I stand all day, so it' hard to avoid.

037 024 I had a great shopping day on Friday and snagged a (much needed) $7 bra, $12 hippy dress and some cutey baby clothes at the TJ Maxx. Pic #1 is the dress, it so reminds me of the Indian bed spread that I had to have when I went away to art college in 1991, (that was also my year long Birkinstock phase). Outfit #2 is a blue lace Kensie tunic from the Rack (I added a green ribbon) and a comfy stretch jersey butterfly skirt from Anthropologie that I bought when I first found out I was pregnant. I don't see it on their site, so may be sold out, I was just so happy they had an XL!

I thought this was a pretty funny picture that hubby took of me at the Fremont underground market, we didn't buy this buggy, but I love it :)

Lots of Bean Stuff...

Crochet baby My very first crochet baby cardigan with little matching hat is finished! I used a chunky, super soft, nylon wool for the body and a soft new wool for the contrast, natural trim. Finished off with little wood leaf buttons. It's turned out Super heavy, so my poor baby won't even be able to move in it, but it's my first try, so there we go, at least it's warm :) The book I used was called Crochet for Baby and the pattern is the sweater on the front of the book. I just changed the yarn and added my own trim. I'm looking forward to starting the little crochet dolls and this mobile idea I just saw on the Joann website. I just got this gorgeous baby crochet book and can't wait to try some of the ideas in it.

My favorite pregger outfit this week has been my Anthropologie top and skirt that I bought when I first found out I was pregnant. The top is a Merimekko and is now on sale , the skirt is by Lithe and is wonderful because it has a large jersey waistband that is perfect for the belly! I've topped it off with a DKNY jean jacket. Second picture is of the maxi dress that I got at Newport News, but has now sold out. It is enormous and I love it!

I went to my first Yoga Mama class last night which was glorious. I haven't done yoga in a couple of years and it was wonderful to get back into those stretches, especially when the class is geared towards prenatal movement. I have been feeling wonderful in the last few weeks with only a little bit of hip ache when I sleep, which seems to have gone away now, and the occasional mild abdomen cramp. The bean has been kicking up a storm in the last week and a half! We went for my 20 week ultrasound, which was amazing to see her crammed in such a tight space. All arms and legs! Because we had this last ultrasound at my ob's office instead of the hospital like our other two, the pictures are very small and blurry. I was a bit disappointed as we probably won't get another peek at her until she is born.

My hubby is in what I call Super Nesting. He is remodeling the whole house before bean is born. Here are the amazing pictures of the Before, During & After of our gorgeous new ground floor Bathroom. Before:

After:

After 1 After 2 After 4

He has finished remodeling our bedroom upstairs and we are working on the baby room upstairs, office/spare room downstairs and the kitchen before the bean is born in November! Phew!
